I love how much detail you have put in your vlog. You mentioned that he has collaborated with economists, archaeologists, neuroscientists and many more. He said that it added more depth to his pieces. Do you agree with this statement by watching McGregor's work?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment Lucy, I do agree that this collaboration has added depth to hid pieces. I feel that by McGregor finding out more about the narrative and stimulus himself he can then portray this detail within his pieces and help his dancers tell this information to the audience.
DeleteThis is a really good vlog Niamh! You come across as very confident due to to the way you look directly at the camera at all times, and speak clearly throughout. I agree with Lucy’s comment, I like the way you go into great detail about each point you’ve mentioned. It’s also really good that you have discussed the way Wayne Mc Gregor has had an impact on the community. However is there anything he’s done to have an impact culturally?
ReplyDeleteThank you for you comment Rachel, I feel that the topics in which McGregor bases his pieces upon reflect the culture we live in. This can be seen in Infra when he shows the vulnerability of one's self in a relationship and also in Genus. Charles Darwin's theories were extremely controversial in his time, and are still challenged by many religious groups, subsequently by performing the story to the audience he is presenting his potential viewpoints and reflecting the science based culture that we live in today.
DeleteWell done, this is a great vlog! I love how you come across completely engaged and confident. It was very interesting to hear how McGregor collaborates with scientists. Do you personally like the collaborative choreographic process Wayne McGregor uses? Also, do you think his work has impacted the community? If so, how?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment Louisa, I do like the collaborative process he uses as I feel like it allows the dancers and the audience to understand the narrative more clearly. I feel like his work has educated the community, this is because he takes topics and delves himself into it by collaboration and then incorporates his research into his piece and thus allows the audience to understand the topic in more detail than they did before.
